Time and time again, livelihood skills training program has proven to be an effective intervention in enhancing livelihood opportunities for individuals in the community. ID Ghana believes that knowledge of simple prudent social and business practices is key to behavior change that leads to improved social and economic state. Therefore, training is the driving force of ID Ghana’s other products and services and ultimately makes it possible for ID Ghana to achieve its vision of a community where the less privileged are empowered in achieving sustainable socio-economic activities.

To walk the talk, ID Ghana in collaboration with Safe Bridge organized a livelihood skills training (how to produce liquid soap for sale) for our kick start partners in one of our Dansoman branch groups. The objective of the training was to help participants increase their income generation opportunities. Participants were taken through an interactive training on business branding and effective marketing before the skills training. In all 20 partners participated in the training. After the training participants were tasked to prepare the soap individually and they all did extremely well. A follow up on participants of the program indicated that

  • The training program was successful in equipping participants with the skills and knowledge.
  • Participants are demonstrating significant improvement in their practical skills and confidence levels.
  • There has been a notable increase in participants’ income levels as a result of the acquired skills.

By equipping participants with this skill and knowledge, we believe we have contributed to their economic empowerment and improved their overall quality of life. Partners were very happy and greatly appreciated the opportunity and ID Ghana was happy to be there at the point of their need.

ID Ghana plans to source for funds in order to do more of such programs to reach a larger number of individuals in need of livelihood support. In addition regular monitoring and evaluation would be conducted to assess the long-term impact of the training on participants’ livelihoods. Finally, collaboration with local businesses and organizations can help by buying from our program graduates to help them earn more income to support their families.
